GSM telematics gateway
IOT Express® offers its CAN Connect® telematics gateway to accelerate data collection for manufacturers of industrial equipment.
Fitted on the machine, CAN Connect® reads and decodes the frames of multiplexed networks (CAN and MODBUS buses), timestamps them in absolute time and streams them in real time to the IOT Express® platform through its autonomous GSM modem. Bidirectional and remotely configurable, it enables remote diagnostics, real-time monitoring and remote control of mobile equipment, wherever it operates.

Main features
Multiple inputs
The CAN Connect® gateway connects:
• CAN,
• MODBUS,
• One Wire input,
• analogue inputs,
• digital (TOR) output.
We supply temperature probes for measurements from -55 °C to +125 °C with 0.5 °C accuracy. During prototyping, we manufacture the harness to connect to your controllers.
Built-in sensors
The CAN Connect® gateway integrates:
• geolocation (GNSS),
• supply-voltage measurement,
• remaining-memory measurement.
It synchronises with the GSM network to timestamp every measurement in absolute time (GMT), putting the data in the context of its environment.
SIM coverage & worldwide roaming
The CAN Connect® gateway embeds a multi-operator SIM with roaming, offered in 3 coverage tiers:
• Europe,
• Western world (Europe, North America, etc.),
• Worldwide.
Connectivity switches automatically to the best available network within the chosen zone. The tier is set card by card: you can fit some products with a Europe SIM and others with a Worldwide SIM, depending on where they operate.
Bidirectional & remote control
The CAN Connect® gateway is bidirectional: remotely drive its inputs/outputs and send CAN or MODBUS command frames down to the machine. You can act on the equipment, adjust a setpoint or trigger an action, with no on-site visit.
And with our task scheduler, manage the start-up calendar of your equipment… remotely!
IP67 design
The CAN Connect® gateway is waterproof (IP67), built to withstand shocks and vibration, and operates from -40 °C to +85 °C. Its 2.5 mm steel mounting bracket allows a robust, anti-vibration installation with harnesses exiting left or right.
Integrated into IOT Express®
The CAN Connect® gateway is tightly integrated into the IOT Express® platform: both its configuration and its firmware are managed in IOT Express® and updated remotely (OTA). The collected data is stored there for maximum value.
Ready to use
We have selected a range of GSM and GNSS antennas offering the best performance/cost/design trade-off. With its SIM card, antennas and harnesses supplied, the CAN Connect® gateway ships ready to use.
